Simplifying complex financial platforms supporting the U.S. housing market

The U.S. housing finance system is powered by a vast network of lenders, investors, and financial institutions. The digital platforms supporting these systems must handle enormous amounts of financial data while remaining usable for industry professionals.

At Fannie Mae, I worked on enterprise tools supporting mortgage professionals and housing partners across the lending ecosystem.

The Challenge

Many internal financial platforms had grown into complex systems filled with dense data tables, fragmented workflows, and inconsistent navigation.

Users often needed to interpret large volumes of financial information quickly.

My Role

As part of the design team, I helped improve enterprise interfaces and workflows across mortgage-related data platforms.

Design Approach

We focused on transforming data-heavy tools into clear, structured decision environments.

Key improvements included:

• redesigning financial dashboards to highlight actionable insights
• simplifying navigation across complex workflows
• improving information hierarchy within dense data interfaces

We worked closely with product teams and engineers to align design improvements with broader platform modernization efforts.

Outcome

The redesigned interfaces helped financial professionals interact with mortgage data more efficiently and make decisions with greater confidence.

What I Learned

Enterprise UX is often about making complexity understandable without oversimplifying the system.

When financial tools surface the right information at the right time, productivity improves across the entire organization.
